Nîmes dates back to the Roman Empire and offers several well preserved sites from that era. Nîmes is also where the textile for jeans was originally invented: the word Denim is derived from the name of the city ‘de Nîmes’ i.e. from Nîmes. Antique Roman and typical Mediterranean visuals abound!
Producers visit, day 2
In Nîmes, the tourist office offered the producers a tour of two of the major Roman sites of the town: the arena (the 7th largest in the world) still used today for concerts and shows and the ‘Maison Carrée’ classical temple. They also strolled along the picturesque limestone-paved streets of the town centre.
